Using subtle sensing, the system listens to the rise and fall of each inhale and exhale, translating them into soft gradients of light.
Light,Breathing

Meditation is an activity centered on breathing and the pursuit of inner peace. It is about slowing down, grounding the body, and aligning awareness with the rhythm of breath. I’m interested in how light can become part of this meditative process — not just as illumination, but as an active participant that reflects and responds to one’s internal state.

Through this, I aim to design a responsive lighting environment that visualizes calmness itself — a space where technology and mindfulness coexist, transforming light into a meditative companion.

Soft Ripples
The layered curves reference the softness of water ripples—an image often associated with clarity and tranquility. This formal direction supports the meditative atmosphere of the project, allowing the light to act not only as illumination but also as a visual anchor for calmness and focus.

I want to explore how light could synchronize with the meditator’s breathing rhythm by using a thermal camera to detect subtle temperature fluctuations. These micro-changes reveal the pattern of inhalation and exhalation, allowing the system to interpret breath in real time.
